Rosemary Jensen Bible Foundation
Equipping people with the Word of God.
“The grass withers, and the flower falls,
but the word of the Lord remains forever.”
1 Peter 1:24b-25
The Rosemary Jensen Bible Foundation (RJBF) exists for one clear and urgent purpose: to place an appropriate Bible in the hands of every pastor, teacher, and student in African partner denominations who teach or proclaim the Word of God.
This vision did not emerge quickly. It was shaped over more than sixty years of faithful ministry by Rosemary Jensen, who built deep and lasting partnerships with evangelical denominations across Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Through these relationships—spanning seminaries, churches, and schools—the work of Bible distribution began to take shape.
At 87 years of age, Rosemary was far from retirement. That year, she launched RJBF in 2017 after stepping down as Executive Director of the Rafiki Foundation. Her focus and lifelong mission: ensuring that God’s Word is accessible, understood, and treasured.
What began as a vision quickly became a growing international effort.
In the year of its establishment, RJBF partnered with Ligonier Ministries to provide Reformation Study Bibles to seminary students. In 2022, Crossway joined the work, supplying Systematic Theology Study Bibles and additional resources. Working alongside the Rafiki Foundation, RJBF supplied more than 525,000 Bibles across Africa as of April 2026.
These Bibles are not simply distributed but are placed with purpose. Alongside them, RJBF provides trusted commentaries and study tools to help pastors and students rightly understand and faithfully teach God’s Word. As of 2026, 20,000 pastors have received Crossway Study Bibles, and 18,000 seminary students have received Reformation Study Bibles, with ongoing distribution continuing in the years ahead.
“I have spent over 50 years with the Holy Bible, and I can testify to its power. It brings faith, it teaches the truth, and it motivates to service.”
— Rosemary Jensen
Yet the need remains vast.
Across ten English-speaking countries in Africa, thousands of schools serve children eager to learn, yet many have little or no access to Scripture. Even basic paperback Bibles are often too expensive. In many homes, there is no Bible at all, and in schools where at least 500 students gather, the opportunity for impact is immense.
RJBF expanded its focus to include the next generation.
The goal is to provide Bibles for:
teachers in Rafiki Village schools and partner denomination schools.
students who have been taught to read in these schools.
Each student will receive a carefully selected sequence of Bibles from Crossway Publishers:
Holy Bible for Kids in third grade
Following Jesus Bible in sixth grade
Student Bible at graduation
This is more than a distribution effort. It is a long-term investment in minds, hearts, and communities. The vision is simple, but far-reaching: to place God’s Word into millions of hands and, through it, into generations of lives.
Rosemary Jensen devoted her life to this work. From her earliest days in ministry until her homegoing on May 31, 2026, she remained convinced that Scripture has the power to transform individuals and entire nations.
Her legacy now continues through RJBF—a foundation built on her conviction, carried forward by her partners, and sustained by the enduring power of God’s Word.
